A riverbed dredging operation in the city uncovers skeletal remains. Forensic pathologist Qin Ming's autopsy reveals the body to be that of a woman from a long-standing cold case.
On Qin Ming's birthday, a solar eclipse occurs, and a toy walkie-talkie unexpectedly connects him to his father, Qin Tian, from thirty years in the past. Qin Ming warns of an impending explosion, saving Qin Tian but triggering a series of "Rainy Night Hammer Demon" cases. Two generations of police officers cross time to solve the case and uncover the truth.
